Join us on a rich and varied journey through some of Germany’s most distinctive cities and towns, blending historic heritage and scenic landscapes. We begin in Düsseldorf, a vibrant city on the Rhine known for its contemporary architecture, fashion scene and lively riverfront. We also visit Cologne, home to the magnificent Cologne Cathedral, to experience the city’s deep historical roots alongside its energetic cultural atmosphere.
After two nights in Düsseldorf, we travel south to marvel at the scenic Rhine Valley, visiting St. Goar, where we experience breathtaking views from our included river cruise, and Boppard, a charming riverside town surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills.
The journey continues into Bavaria to discover the beautifully preserved medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and city walls transport us back in time. As well as this, staying in the heart of Franconia, a historical region in the heart of northern Bavaria, we discover the medieval charm, excellent food and drink, and scenic countryside.
Firstly, we visit Nuremberg, a city of great historical significance, where medieval architecture stands alongside important sites from more recent history. Another included excursion is to Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its well-preserved old town. We can also delight in the famous blends Franconian wine. The journey then concludes in Würzburg, celebrated for its elegant Baroque architecture and the magnificent Würzburg Residence, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. With so much to see and do, you don’t want to miss this memorable holiday!

This morning, we head to majestic Cologne. This stylish and attractive city stands on the banks of the romantic River Rhine. Here, you can enjoy some free time to explore the many shops and boutiques. During the Second World War, around 90 percent of Cologne’s inner city was reduced to rubble. Today, the Rhine metropolis is the fourth largest city and one of the most outstanding travel destinations in Germany and Europe.
Cologne Cathedral, famous around the world, dominates the panorama of the city and is still today the second highest building in Cologne after the telecommunications tower. Maybe take time to visit the famous Gothic cathedral, with its most celebrated work, the Sarcophagus of the Magi, thought to hold the remains of the three wise men. The local cuisine, with its many traditional pubs and restaurants, is highly varied and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Whether it’s relaxing on the Rhine promenade or drinking a Kölsch in one of the typical breweries, a visit to Cologne is always enjoyable.
In the afternoon, we head to Düsseldorf, known for one of the most famous shopping streets in Germany; the Koenigsallee, known locally as the 'Kö'. Enjoy a stroll along the Rhine Promenade, where you can see landmarks such as the Schlossturm tower or St. Lambertus church, or why not explore Burgplatz, where you can see the Schiffahrt Museum (shipping museum) and the Cartwheeler’s Fountain? You will have free time to explore before returning to the hotel.
Today, we depart Düsseldorf and follow the Rhine River to marvel at the beautiful scenery of the Rhine Valley, including medieval castles, picturesque villages and vine-clad slopes. We visit Boppard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the jewels of the region, where the splendid Rhine Promenade is situated. We also visit St. Goar, home to the world’s largest cuckoo clock shop. Here, we take a cruise to St. Goarshausen, passing the famous 'Lorelei'. We then disembark and rejoin our coach to continue to our hotel in Schlüsselfeld in the heart of Franconia in North Bavaria.
On our included excursion today, we visit picturesque Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the prettiest towns on the famous Romantic Road. Stroll through the cobbled streets and admire the colourful buildings and bustling squares – you might recognise some of the areas from the famous film ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’! Enjoy some free time here before we continue to the largest city in Franconia. Nuremberg’s principal landmark is the distinctive Imperial Castle which towers above the city, dominating its skyline. This castle, where all of the Holy Roman Emperors from 1050 to 1571 stayed at one time or another, is one of the most important imperial palaces of the Middle Ages. Enjoy some free time to explore the old town, which has retained its character despite having sustained heavy damage in World War 2. Whilst here, don’t forget to try the 'Nürnberger Bratwurst', the city’s famous sausage!
Today we spend time in beautiful Bamberg on our included excursion. This Bavarian city is located on the confluence of the Main and Regnitz rivers. The Old Town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, primarily because of its authentic medieval appearance. Afterwards we travel to the one of the region's wineries and sample some of the famous wines.
This morning, our included excursion takes us to Würzburg, a city of history, culture and wine. This former royal seat is idyllically situated on the Main River and offers a vibrant atmosphere and an endearing charm. Enjoy some free time this morning and discover Würzburg’s southern German flair and Franconian hospitality. Afterwards, we continue to Belgium for an overnight stay.
